'Bossku' still a potent force despite character assassination on Najib, says Zahid

PETALING JAYA: Although Datuk Seri Najib Razak has been victimised by Barisan Nasional's opponents, the "Bossku" vibe is still strong, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

The Umno president and Barisan chairman said these enemies' strategy was to tarnish the name of their political rivals.

“Barisan's opponents rejoiced when Najib was imprisoned before the 15th General Election (GE15) but their happiness will be short-lived.

“They predicted that his (Najib) imprisonment will end the ‘Bossku’ era but instead, the opposite has happened and Barisan continues to thrive.

“Najib’s presence is still felt within all layers of society who are beginning to understand what is really happening,” he said in a Facebook post on Tuesday (Sept 27).

The Bagan Datuk MP said Barisan’s enemies also hoped that Najib’s good name would be irreparably damaged following the former prime minister's imprisonment.

“We (Barisan) are confident that our opponents' efforts will be futile.

“As Najib explained before, ‘Bossku’ actually refers to the people themselves and it will be impossible to erase the aura of ‘Bossku’,” he said.

Najib is currently serving a 12-year sentence in Kajang Prison following the Federal Court’s decision on Aug 23 to uphold his corruption conviction involving RM42mil of SRC International funds.

Also upheld was a RM210mil fine against him.

He is facing other cases related to the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) scandal.
