KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah on Thursday (Sept 22) expressed their condolences to the family of former Melaka chief minister Datuk Seri Mohd Adib Mohamad Adam, who died on Wednesday (Sept 21).
A post on the Istana Negara Facebook account said Their Majesties expressed sadness over the passing of Mohd Adib, who was the fifth chief minister of Melaka, and hoped that his family would be patient and persevere in the face of this sad and difficult situation.
Their Majesties also prayed that his soul would be blessed by Allah SWT and be placed among the righteous.
"Their Majesties greatly appreciate the devotion, service and sacrifices of the late Mohd Adib to the community and country and described his passing as a great loss to Melaka," the Facebook post read.
The remains of Mohd Adib, 81, were laid to rest at Melaka Heroes’ Mausoleum in Bukit Palah on Wednesday night.
Besides holding the post of Melaka chief minister from July 11, 1978 to April 26, 1982, Mohd Adib also held the posts of Information Minister and Rural Development, Cooperatives and Entrepreneurship Minister. - Bernama
