Video of 90-year-old man scaling Mt Kinabalu goes viral

KOTA KINABALU: A video of an elderly man making his way to the top of Mount Kinabalu has gone viral.

Sabah Parks Director Maklarin Lakim said the man named Buatin Blandong and was 90 years old.

“If our records are correct, he is the oldest Malaysian to have scaled Mount Kinabalu and reached the summit,” he said when contacted.

He said on Sept 5, Buatin had started his journey from Panar Laban at around 5am and reached the peak at 2.20pm, after a 2km hike.

An average hiker can reach the Peak from Panar Laban within five hours.
