LCS scandal: Rafizi ready to cooperate on police investigation into comments on Abdul Latiff

JOHOR BARU: Rafizi Ramli says he is ready to give his full cooperation to police after a police report was lodged against him over his comments on Datuk Dr Abdul Latiff Ahmad and the littoral combat ship (LCS) scandal.

"I am still waiting for a call from the police and would give my cooperation," said the PKR deputy president after attending a meeting with Johor PKR leaders on Wednesday (Aug 31) night.

He also called for police to question Abdul Latiff, who is Minister in the Prime Minister Department (Special Function), over the LCS issue.

"I understand that when there is a police report being lodged, the cops need to take action. I have no problem with that and I am used to being investigated.

"However, it may not look good in the eyes of the public when previously, Akmal Nasir as PKR strategy director, had made a police report towards Abdul Latiff on the LCS matter with proof coming from the forensic audit report itself, which was sent to the Cabinet and had been declassified.

"Despite the police report, Abdul Latiff has not been summoned to give a statement to the police or be investigated.

"On the other hand, one day after his aide made a police report against me, the police had already issued an official statement," he said when asked to comment on a police report lodged against him over his comments on Abdul Latiff.

Rafizi also said that other leaders who have reports lodged against them have been called by the police, including Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Zahid Hamidi, Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan and PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang.

The cops had earlier confirmed that a police report had been lodged against Rafizi following his comments on Abdul Latiff Ahmad over the littoral combat ship (LCS) scandal.

Rafizi had claimed that the minister has a wife named Zainab Mohd Salleh, who has been implicated in the alleged misappropriation of funds from the LCS project.
