PM denies being pressured by Umno to call for GE15

PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pic) has denied claims that he is being pressured by Umno and is at risk of being sacked by the party.

The Prime Minister, who is also Umno vice-president, said the supreme council meeting on Saturday (Aug 27) was warm and cordial.

"There is no issue. Sometimes, people outside look at things differently whereas the situation inside is different.

"There is no issue in Umno; we respect differences of opinion," he told reporters after addressing the annual civil servants gathering on Tuesday (Aug 30).

Umno has been pressuring for the national polls to be called as soon as possible.

Demands for polls to be held immediately got louder at the party's special briefing on Saturday.

The current parliament term ends in July 2023.
