Umno supreme council to meet later over calls to dissolve Parliament, says Zahid


KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi will bring the party's call for Parliament to be dissolved at the supreme council meeting on Saturday night (Aug 27).

The Umno president said the calls for polls were getting too loud to be ignored.

"I will bring this up at the supreme council meeting later," he said at a briefing at the World Trade Centre here.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, who is also one of Umno's three vice-presidents, is expected to attend the meeting tonight.

Umno has been pushing for the 15th General Election (GE15) as soon as possible.

The current Parliament term ends in July next year.
