KUALA LUMPUR: It is a sea of red as Umno members make their way to Dewan Merdeka at the World Trade Center (WTC) here for a special briefing.

The session is open to the public and is scheduled to start at 2pm on Saturday (Aug 27).

Two halls have been opened to cater for the crowd.

It is learnt the main point to be raised by Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is over the Federal Court's decision to uphold Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's conviction in the SRC International Sdn Bhd case.

Several banners have been put up around the WTC in support of the former prime minister.

Sungai Besar Umno chief Datuk Seri Kamal Md Yunos said he is initiating a "free Datuk Seri Najib" movement, aiming to bring justice to all his trials.

This will be the third major meeting held by the party this week alone.

Meanwhile, an Umno member said that he travelled from Kelantan to attend the special briefing.

"I want to hear what the party leadership has to say and if there is a way forward for us," he said.

Najib is currently serving a 12-year jail sentence for misappropriating RM42mil of the SRC International Sdn Bhd fund.
