PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 4,831 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday (Aug 11), bringing the total number of cases in the country to 4,724,225 infections since the pandemic began.
The Health Ministry's CovidNow portal reported that 4,825 of Thursday's new Covid-19 cases were local transmissions while six imported infections were logged.
There were 3,362 recoveries on Thursday. This brings the cumulative number of recoveries in Malaysia to 4,642,078 since the pandemic began.
The portal also reported that there were 46,081 active cases currently in the country, with 44,404 or 96.4%, observing home quarantine and 33 individuals, or 0.1%, admitted to low-risk quarantine and treatment centres.
The CovidNow portal reported that 1,584 patients, or 3.4% of the total, were currently admitted to hospital for treatment. The number of Covid-19 patients warded at intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country stands at 60, with 40 of these patients requiring ventilation support.
The ICU utilisation rate nationwide stood at 63.2%, with 11 states or localities recording ICU usage rates of more than 60%.
Selangor had the highest ICU utilisation rate at 75.9.2%, followed by Kedah (74.4%), Johor (74.4%), Labuan (71.4%), Kelantan (69.6%), Negeri Sembilan (69.4%), Putrajaya (65%), Kuala Lumpur (63%) and Perak (62.4%).
Meanwhile, the portal reported that 10 Covid-19 deaths were reported on Wednesday with two classified as Brought in Dead (BID).
This brings the death toll to 36,066.
