Terengganu cops seize 125 motorcycles in Ops Samseng Jalanan

KUALA TERENGGANU: Police have issued 447 summonses and seized 125 motorcycles in a two-day operation conducted at two locations in Kuala Terengganu.

Kuala Terengganu OCPD Asst Comm Azli Mohd Noor said Ops Samseng Jalanan 2026 followed inspections on motorcycles believed to have been involved in the Gen-Y Event 2026 celebrations.

The offences detected included missing side mirrors, failure to display a valid motor vehicle licence, expired motor vehicle licences, non-compliant number plates and modified motorcycle exhausts.

"The operation was conducted on Oct 16 and 17 following public complaints about a group of youths riding motorcycles dangerously and causing noise in the Kampung Padang Midin residential area and Kuala Terengganu city centre.

"A total of 125 motorcycles were seized for various offences under Section 64 of the Road Transport Act 1987. The operation was carried out from midnight until the early hours of the morning,” he said in a statement on Saturday (Oct 17).

Police advised the public to comply with traffic laws and refrain from dangerous riding, which poses a risk to themselves and other road users. – Bernama
