JOHOR BARU: The body of a senior citizen,who went missing after leaving his home in Terengganu on Sunday (Aug 7) night has been found in a ravine along Jalan Kota Tinggi-Mersing near Jemaluang.
Mersing OCPD Supt Cyril Edward Nuing said police were notified about the incident at around 9.10am on Tuesday (Aug 9) by people who spotted a blue car inside the ravine.
“The car, driven by 62-year-old Zahari Zakaria, has been found inside the ravine at KM25 along Jalan Kota Tinggi-Mersing here.
“The victim went missing after he left his family home at Kemaman in Terengganu heading towards Pasir Gudang on Sunday. The victim could not be contacted within 24 hours and his children then lodged a police report,” he said.
Supt Cyril added that initial investigation found the victim, who died at the scene, had lost control of his vehicle while manoeuvring a bend along the road.
He said the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Supt Cyril also urged road users to always be vigilant while driving, especially when passing through dark roads, rainy weather and bends so that accidents can be avoided.
