Five cheat death as car falls into 30m ravine


BALIK PULAU: Five men escaped death when their car plunged into a 30m-deep ravine at Jalan Teluk Bahang here on Monday (Aug 8).

A Penang Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the victims, all aged 20 to 21, suffered only minor injuries in the 2.50pm incident.

"A team of firemen from Teluk Bahang station were dispatched to the location after we received a call at about 3pm," he said in a statement.

He said the firemen assessed the situation at the scene and used special rescue tools to free the victims.

All five were taken to hospital for treatment and the operation ended at 4.44pm, he added.
