Former lecturer expected to be charged over false claims in KK court

KOTA KINABALU: A former lecturer of a university here is expected to be charged in court with making false claims of RM66,000 between 2014 and 2017.

The 55-year-old professor was arrested at the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office at 10am on Tuesday (July 19).

According to sources, the professor had allegedly falsified the claims when he worked as one of the directors at the university.

It was learnt that he filed claims for research funds but there was no such expenditure.

Sabah MACC director Datuk S. Karunanithy confirmed the arrest.

The man had been released on a RM10,000 bail with one surety and is expected to be charged at the Kota Kinabalu Sessions Court soon.
