PUTRAJAYA: The Cabinet has decided that all ministries must fine-tune their communications to ensure that information on every strategic decision by the government is delivered to the people accurately and promptly, says Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa.
He said the ministries must also intensify their information delivery efforts to help the people grasp the importance of and rationale behind every action by the government.
"The Cabinet wants ministries to ensure that delivery of information is improved and enhanced as we know the people out there want more information.

"Some of the government’s strategic decisions also need to be explained well to the people... we want to provide them with a greater understanding of what’s going on and the rationale for the government’s actions,” he told reporters after attending his ministry's strategic communication engagement session with senior government officials here on Wednesday (July 6).
Also present were Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali and ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohammad Mentek.
Annuar also said implementation and planning of the various ministries' strategic communications would be carried out in a more holistic manner, and the practice of working in silos should be done away with.
"Even if an issue involves just one ministry, from the aspect of government communications, it should be handled jointly with other ministries," he added.

Annuar said the Finance Ministry had done its part by setting aside a substantial allocation to enable each ministry to strengthen its strategic communications.
"Previously, (allocation) for communications was small and I believe it has been increased 10-fold now," he said.
