PAS will take action against its leaders, members who cause division in society, says Takiyuddin

PETALING JAYA: PAS will take stern action against any of its leaders and members who continue to ignore aspects of unity and cause division among society, says Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan (pic).

The party’s secretary-general said this in response to Selangor’s Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah urging the Malay community and political leaders to watch the movie Mat Kilau: Kebangkitan Pahlawan (Mat Kilau: Rise of the Warrior) to see how disunity and infighting can break a nation.

“PAS upholds the advice and views of the Sultan of Selangor, so that the disunity among the Malays right now is addressed immediately.

“PAS also agrees with the Ruler’s command that Islam has always encouraged unity among the people instead of division, in accordance to the Quran,” he said in a statement.

The Kota Bera MP added that PAS will continue to be committed to the Ummah Unification Agenda among the Malay Muslims in the country, while strengthening national unity among the multiracial communities in Malaysia.

On Monday (July 4), the Sultan, who watched the movie, noted that it highlighted how division among the Malays paved the way for outsiders to take control.

The Ruler said he took a serious view of disunity among the Malays, especially political leaders.

He added the dialogue in the movie conveyed a message to the Malay community about how the strength of a race was in the spirit of unity and devotion to Islam.
