KUALA LUMPUR: A great personality along with relevant skill sets were among qualities sought by companies looking to fill positions during the myStarJob Fair 2022.
The job fair, which was held at the Pavilion Bukit Jalil Exhibition Centre over the weekend, attracted a huge number of jobseekers.
Yvonne Chan of Linaco Resources Sdn Bhd said they were actively building their talent pool from technical to administrative bases, research & development, engineering as well as quality assurance & quality control, technicians and general workers.
“We want people with personality and those who are willing to go the extra mile,” said the company’s human resources head.
Chan said there were 20 to 30 positions up for grabs.
“We currently have 10 functions in our companies and factories in Batu Pahat, Bandar Enstek and Kalimantan.
“We are the largest integrated coconut products manufacturer and supplier of coconut-related products in Malaysia. We are offering candidates to work in a company which is well balanced but which also engages in a lot of community work,” she said.
Abdul Khaliq Putra Abdul Rahman Putra from Air Selangor said they were looking to fill some 200 positions – from non-executives, executives and even top management.
The company’s manpower planning and recruitment unit human resources & administrative department assistant vice-president II said they assessed candidates by their body language and vibes.
“A lot of young people are opting for flexible jobs and working hours.
“However, they will reach a point where they realise that moving forward being part of a corporate company will have a better work-life balance in terms of career goals, benefits and vision,” he said.
ExxonMobil human resources and talent acquisitions (Malaysia/Singapore) manager Azatul Amery Ismail said that being able to be part of myStarJob Fair was a great experience that presented them a better opportunity to meet candidates.
“When we meet face to face, we are able to assess them in terms of their capabilities, appearance and explain the job scope,” he said.
“We are looking for engineering, commercial and internship candidates. There are about 50 positions we need to fill.
“The fair also helps candidates look for the right job while meeting the industry players, get career inputs, know more about resume writing and, most importantly, get clarity on getting the right position.”
AIA Bhd sales force planning manager Wayne Yap said the company was actively looking for salespeople.
“This fair was a good platform and we are looking forward to participating in more physical fairs in the second half of the year.
“Although we are moving towards digital transformation, we still need people to do sales. We are looking at both experienced and fresh graduates because we do have training and coaching sessions.
“When they come to a job fair, it benefits the candidates because they can have a sense of career direction while employers can see the response of the market,” Yap said.Shopper 360 Ltd group chairman Chew Sue Ann said this was their first career fair.
Previously, she said the company had used social media and recruitment companies or referrals.
“We also realise a fair like this is good exposure for our company,” she said.
