Covid-19 Watch: 2,512 new cases, three deaths recorded on June 24

KUALA LUMPUR: The nation recorded 2,512 new Covid-19 cases on Friday (June 24), down from 2,796 on Thursday.

However, it still remains on the high side as it is the second highest number of new cases daily recorded by the Health Ministry this month, according to data on the Github portal.

The number of cases have been on the higher end over the past three days (June 22, 23 and 24) compared to the past 14 days which have hovered between 1,500 and 2,300 cases.

Of the new cases, 194 were imported while the rest were local infections.

Three deaths were recorded, two in Melaka and one in Kuala Lumpur.

Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin on Thursday (June 23) said that a new wave of Covid-19 infections in the country was expected to occur earlier than predicted based on a rise in daily local cases and in Singapore.
