All short and medium-term LRT improvements already implemented, says Transport Ministry

PUTRAJAYA: More than half of the 23 improvement initiatives recommended by the team investigating the Kelana Jaya Line LRT train collision incident last year have been fully implemented, with only long-term plans yet to be completed, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The Transport Minister said the initiatives completed include five short-term and 11 medium-term moves.

"Another seven long-term initiatives are being actively implemented and expected to be completed according to schedule," said Dr Wee in a press conference here on Wednesday (May 24).

In the 8.45pm incident on May 24 last year, more than 200 passengers were injured after two LRT trains on the Kelana Jaya line collided in the tunnel between the KLCC and Kampung Baru stations.

The crash involved one train with passengers and another train being test-driven by a single driver.
