Super-sized keropok lekor a hit at Ramadan bazaar

A 600g keropok lekor – also known as keropok lekor gasi – is the main attraction at a Ramadan bazaar in Batu Burok Beach, Terengganu, during this holy month, reported Harian Metro.

A usual keropok lekor weighs around 100g and is sold at RM1 each.

Trader Aishah Ismail, 29, from Kampung Losong, said she only brought in 20 such keropok lekor for sale on the first day of Ramadan as a test and was surprised to find that they sold out in under 15 minutes.

“Forty were sold within half an hour on the second day and 80 on the third day,” she said, adding that the stall also sold other super-sized local delicacies.

Besides tiring easily, the 26-year-old’s hair started falling and her weight shrunk.

“During the quarantine, I was really sick until I cried during a video call with my sister Emma.

“Other people are quarantined for only nine days, right? But I stayed home for up to 12 days because my body was still weak.

“My hair still falls a lot and I’m losing weight. I am now 49kg when I used to be 60kg.

“Maybe it’s because I’m also using Emma’s slimming products but that was one of the symptoms I had after I was infected,” she said.

Chacha, whose real name is Siti Aishah Ismail, said she even felt faint while walking around a mall.

Syed Sallilah @ Bakhtiar Syed Mashor, 39, of Permas Jaya, Johor Baru, said many people thought that he was the twin of the Akademi Fantasia 3 winner. He had even grown accustomed to being called Mawi.

“Some customers even bought my grilled fish online just to get a closer look at my face and see how similar I look to Mawi.

“Maybe they want to meet me but I’m thankful they are all friendly. They also give me positive feedback about my grilled fish,” he said.
