Clinic director held over alleged RM50,000 false claims in Lahad Datu

KOTA KINABALU: The director of a private clinic has been arrested for allegedly filing claims containing false documents during a health screening programme in Lahad Datu, three years ago.

The suspect, in his 40s, was said to have used the details of some 800 Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) members to apply for a RM50,000 grant for the said programme organised by a statutory body in 2023.

He was arrested after giving statements at the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) branch in Lahad Datu at around 8pm on Sunday (Nov 2).

Sabah MACC Director Datuk Mohd Fuad Bee Basrah confirmed the arrest and said that the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009 for providing false claims or falsified documents.

The suspect will be released on bail after giving his statements, he said.
