Man, 63, killed in JB hit-and-run accident


JOHOR BARU: A 63-year-old security guard died instantly in a hit-and-run accident at Perling here.

Johor Baru North OCPD Asst Comm Rupiah Abd Wahid said the incident took place at Jalan Persisiran Perling when the victim rode his motorcycle towards the Pasir Gudang highway at around 7.30am on Monday (April 4).

“The victim initially fell when his motorcycle brushed against a Perodua Myvi.

“He was then hit by an oncoming white van but the vehicle fled from the scene and has not come to the police to report about the incident,” she said.

ACP Rupiah added that the victim suffered from severe head injuries and died on the spot.

He was sent to Hospital Sultanah Aminah for postmortem.

The case was classified under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.

“Those with information regarding the accident are urged to come forward and aid in investigations by calling Insp Najwa Abd Latiff at 013-4144 997,” she said.
