Covid-19: Patients under home quarantine should regularly update medical condition, says Khairy

SIMPANG RENGGAM: Those undergoing home quarantine should regularly update their medical condition at the virtual Covid-19 assessment centre (CAC) in MySejahtera, says Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

Khairy said the virtual CAC in MySejahtera is a key factor in identifying whether those at home quarantine should report to the physical CACs when their medical conditions deteriorated in order to prevent brought-in-dead (BID) cases.

"If their conditions worsen, we will ask them to come to the physical CAC through SMS or automated phone calls.

"That is why it is important for Covid-19 patients undergoing home quarantine to always update their health status using the health assessment tool twice a day," he said during a press conference at the Simpang Renggam CAC on Sunday (Feb 27).

"This allows us to know if you are experiencing shortness of breath, low blood oxygen levels and continuous high fever, as these are all early warning signs," Khairy added.

Khairy said only 55% of those serving home quarantines were submitting their daily health assessment, far from the Health Ministry's 70% target.

"If you see the health of your family members deteriorating, inform us or bring them straight to a CAC immediately," he said.

As of Sunday (Feb 27) morning, Malaysia recorded 27,299 new cases, bringing the total number of cases recorded since the start of the pandemic to 3,395,170.
