Covid-19: Melaka health authorities to discuss closing educational institutions following rise in cases

MELAKA: The state Health Department is discussing with stakeholders to consider closing educational institutions here following an increase in Covid-19 infections.

Melaka Health director Dr Rusdi Abd Rahman said his team will continue to monitor the situation and issue recommendations to the state Covid-19 management committee.

“We are still holding discussions on the educational institution clusters and would make the recommendations according to the situation,” he said when contacted Tuesday (Feb 1).

However, he said the decision on closing educational institutions is the prerogative of the Melaka Education Department.

Some 600 teachers and students have tested positive for Covid-19 in the state so far.
