JOHOR BARU: The number of flood evacuees in Johor remains at 3,161 victims from 913 families at 40 temporary relief centres (PPS) as of 8am on Monday (Jan 10).
State Health and Environment committee chairman R. Vidyananthan said that the Segamat district has the highest number of evacuees with 1,246 people from 336 families from the four districts affected by floods.
He said there are 1,107 people from 337 families in Muar, Tangkak has 678 people from 206 families and Batu Pahat has 130 victims from 34 families.
“Segamat has 19 PPS, followed by Muar with 10, nine in Tangkak and two in Batu Pahat bringing the total number to 40,’’ Vidyananthan said in a statement.
He said five rivers – one in Segamat and four in Muar - are still at dangerous levels as of 8am.
The rivers are Sungai Muar (Buluh Kasap) in Segamat at 9.17m and Sungai Muar (Kampung Olak Sepam), Muar at 2.95m, Sungai Muar (Panchor), Muar at 2.19m, Sungai Muar (Liang Batu), Muar and 2.30m and Sungai Muar (Bukit Kepong at 4.58m.
Vidyananthan said Jalan Pogoh (Kampung Limau Manis) in Segamat from KM6.5 to KM8, and Jalan Durian Chondong (KM0.3) and Jalan Muar-Labis (KM50 to KM52) both in Muar are only accessible by heavy vehicles.
He said Jalan Lingkaran Barat in Kluang at KM1.1, is only accessible for light vehicles at there is a landslide at the 20 metre stretch along the KM1.1.
Vidyananthan said Jalan Felda Bukit Aping (Jalan Kemuning 1) in Kota Tinggi is closed for all vehicles as there is a landslide in the area.
He said Jalan Tekam-Pagoh (KM1 to KM2) and Jalan Muar-Labis (KM59.5 to KM61.3) in Muar are also closed for all vehicles.
