Health DG: Four new Covid-19 cases among flood victims


PETALING JAYA: Just four new Covid-19 cases were found among flood victims yesterday.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the overall cases among flood victims now stands at 465.

“There were no new clusters at temporary relief centres (yesterday),” he said, adding that only one cluster has been reported so far.

“A total of 135 cases of infectious diseases among flood victims involved acute respiratory infections (102 cases), skin disease (28) and acute gastroenteritis (five),” he said in a statement yesterday.

The number of Covid-19 recoveries in the country again outpaced new cases, with 2,862 people recovering while there were 2,842 new infections.

There were 332 imported cases, of which 292 involved Malaysians.

Two new clusters were reported. There are currently 200 active clusters in the country. There are now 252 cases requiring treatment in intensive care units, of which 196 are Covid-19 confirmed patients, 56 are suspected, probable or cases under investigation.
