Covid-19: Masidi cautions vaccinated parents to be cautious around their unvaccinated kids

KOTA KINABALU: Parents are reminded that being fully vaccinated against Covid-19 does not completely prevent them from spreading the virus to their children.

Minister in charge of Covid-19 matters in Sabah, Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, said that new daily cases involved over 70% of those fully vaccinated, and this suggests that parents think that they are immune to the virus.

“However, they must remember that they can still transmit the virus to their children who are not inoculated against Covid-19,” he said in his daily Covid-19 briefing on Tuesday (Jan 4).

He said on Tuesday, Sabah recorded 258 new cases, 17% of whom were children under the ages of 12.

This is an increase of 97 cases from Monday’s overall 161 new cases, said Masidi.

“As for the fully vaccinated, they make up about 70 of the total new cases on Jan 4,” he said.

Out of the infected districts, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu and Tuaran have the top three highest cases with 49, 32 and 22 cases respectively.

No new clusters were recorded on Jan 4.
