Floods: Malaysians from outside Klang Valley bring boats to help

PETALING JAYA: Hang on, fellow Malaysians - we’re coming to save you.

That sentiment seems to be the rallying cry among Good Samaritans not only within the Klang Valley, but also those from other states.

A viral Facebook post by social media influencer Muhsin Zaidi shared his observation of the PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) North South expressway with many private vehicles seen bearing boats and heading south towards the Klang Valley.

“Some were towing the boats, there were those who used lorries, while others strapped them to the roof of their cars,” he said.

According to Muhsin, all the vehicles with boats were spotted with plate numbers that were registered in states outside the Klang Valley.

“Kudos to the Malaysian rakyat who are traveling great distances to help those stranded (in the floods). Many Malaysians are so good-hearted and loving,” he added.

In a reply to his Facebook post, Naemah Salleh offered some insight as to why the touching sight on the highway is taking place.

“Back then, when floods hit the East Coast, many from the Klang Valley came to help. Alhamdulillah,” she commented.

Shakhila Rahman also chimed in; “Just now, on the highway while on the way back from Seremban to Petaling Jaya, I also saw cars with boats (heading up). May all be eased.”

On his page, Muhsin continues to signal boost for those who are undertaking aid efforts, such as one couple from Perak who are driving to Klang - complete with a boat hoisted onto their car to help flood victims.
