Covid-19: Recoveries continue to outnumber new cases on Thursday (Dec 16)


PETALING JAYA: The trend of more Covid-19 recoveries than new cases continues.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, in his daily statement, said that 4,985 recoveries were recorded on Thursday (Dec 16) against the 4,262 new cases.

Of the new infections, 78 were identified as Category 3, 4 and 5 cases.

He added that 383 cases required treatment at ICU, and 198 cases needed ventilators.

Six new clusters have been identified, bringing the total number of active clusters to 248.

The national infectivity rate (R-nought) value is currently at 0.92.

Negri Sembilan recorded the value of 1.02, the highest currently in the country.

All other states recorded values of 1.0 or below, with Sarawak recording the lowest at 0.74.
