Consumer Affairs Ministry launches 'Ops Pasar' to monitor vegetable price hikes


KUALA TERENGGANU: The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry launched "Ops Pasar (Sayur 2)" nationwide from Saturday (Nov 27) to investigate reports of rising vegetable prices, which are alleged to have been hiked by up to 200%.

Deputy Minister Datuk Rosol Wahid said on the first day of the operation, 43 premises and 131 types of vegetables such as choy sum (sawi), beans, broccoli and red chillies had been inspected, covering all levels of the distribution network, namely suppliers, wholesalers and retailers nationwide.
