Suspect arrested in PJ for trying to start a fight with cop


PETALING JAYA: A man was arrested after he allegedly attempted to goad a policeman into fighting him here.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said policemen in a patrol car ordered the suspect to stop his vehicle along Jalan Lapangan Terbang Subang on Sunday (Nov 21).

"The patrol car attempted to stop the man after spotting him use his handphone while driving around 1.15am. However, the suspect refused to comply.

"They followed him until he stopped his car at KM2.6," he said in a statement on Monday (Nov 22).

"The suspect acted aggressively and tugged the collar of a policemen, taunting him to remove his uniform so that they could fight.

"Checks showed that the suspect had a criminal record for vehicle theft and criminal intimidation. He has been remanded for two days," he said.

An alcohol test conducted on the suspect showed that the levels were below the limit.
