PETALING JAYA: Under the mySalam medical insurance scheme for the B40, 229,000 individuals affected by Covid-19 have received compensation with a total value of RM115mil, says the Finance Minister.
Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz said the mySalam special medical insurance scheme for the B40 community has so far paid out hospitalisation and critical illness claims of more than RM180mil to 125,000 patients.
"229,000 individuals have also received compensation due to Covid-19 with a total value of RM115mil," he said during the tabling of Budget 2022 in Parliament on Friday (Oct 29).
He added that this year the scope of the mySalam scheme has been extended to cover the claims of the cost of medical devices such as stents for the heart.
"Next year, the mySalam scheme will also be extended to the Bantuan Keluarga Malaysia recipients and the medical device cost claims will also be extended to the dependents of the eligible mySalam recipients," he said.
Tengku Zafrul was tabling the 2022 Budget in Dewan Rakyat on Friday (Oct 29).
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob earlier had said the Budget was drawn up to benefit all quarters in line with the Malaysian Family concept which assures that no one will be left out in the country’s recovery agenda after experiencing difficulties brought by the Covid-19 pandemic.
