Teachers' office in SK Sungai Nibong damaged in afternoon blaze

GEORGE TOWN: The teachers' office of SK Sungai Nibong here has been partially destroyed in a fire.

The Fire and Rescue Department received a distress call at 1.53pm on Monday (Sept 13).

“When the Fire and Rescue team arrived at the scene, it was found that the fire involved an office on the first floor of the school building.

“The estimated extent of damage is around 30%," the department said in a statement.

“The fire has been brought under control and operations to extinguish it are still ongoing.

“The operation is being carried out by firemen from the Bayan Baru fire station, aided by firemen from the Jalan Perak station.

“No casualties were reported,” the statement added.
