Covid-19: Sarawak records 411 cases on Monday (Aug 2), no casualties or new clusters

KUCHING: Sarawak registered 411 new Covid-19 cases on Monday (Aug 2), with no deaths or new clusters reported.

The state disaster management committee said in a statement Kuching had the most cases with 144, followed by Bau with 94.

A further 20 districts recorded between one and 29 cases each, taking the state's cumulative tally to 77,717.

The death toll remains at 462.

"Of the new cases, 246 were close contacts of Covid-19 patients while 96 were detected among active clusters.

"There were two cases involving individuals returning from Kuala Lumpur and one imported case from Indonesia," the committee said.

It also said 550 patients had recovered and were discharged, while three clusters in Kabong, Miri and Kuching had ended.

There are still 82 active clusters in the state, including seven which recorded a total of 96 new cases.
