10-year-old boy feared drowned after falling into drain in Puncak Alam


SHAH ALAM: A 10-year-old boy is feared to have drowned after falling into a drain and being swept away by strong currents at Lorong Cakera Purnama, Bandar Puncak Alam on Tuesday (April 28).

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations, Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar, said the department received an emergency call regarding the incident at 7.47pm.

A team of six personnel and a Fire Rescue Tender from the Bestari Jaya Fire and Rescue Station were sent to the location and arrived at 8.13pm.

"According to information from the public, the victim fell into the drain at 3.30pm and was carried away by swift currents during heavy rain.

"Search and rescue (SAR) operations by firemen are currently underway," he said in a statement on Tuesday night. – Bernama
