548 detained for violating SOP on Monday (July 5), says Ismail Sabri


PUTRAJAYA: Police have arrested 548 individuals for various standard operating procedure violations.

The violations include failure to register when entering premises (91), no social distancing (81), not wearing face masks (79), failure to abide by movement control order (54), ferrying excess passengers (48) and other offences (195).

Of those arrested on July 5, 539 individuals were slapped with compounds and nine were remanded.

The taskforce monitoring standard operating procedure compliance had checked 88, 183 premises on Monday (July 5), including supermarkets, restaurants, factories, banks, government offices and hawkers.

Also checked were wet markets/pasar tani, places of worship, recreational places and sea transport terminals.

On Ops Benteng, Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pic) said that five illegal immigrants were arrested and four land vehicles were seized.

“On screening of foreign workers, Ismail Sabri said that 38 individuals were tested on Monday, where four workers were tested positive, ” he said on Tuesday (July 6).

Cumulatively, 700, 344 foreign workers were sent for Covid-19 screenings involving 36, 395 employers.

During this exercise, which was made mandatory, beginning Feb 1, 10, 383 foreign workers were found to be positive.

Ismail Sabri also said that 506 individuals had arrived in Malaysia on Monday and all were sent to undergo quarantine at government-designated stations.

Since July 24 last year, a total of 242, 685 individuals had returned to the country and were quarantined at 78 hotels and nine training institutes.
