SUBANG JAYA: The government will conduct a data study on Covid-19 cases nationwide to consider a relaxation of the standard operating procedure (SOP) for Phase One of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) in certain states, which will be determined later.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said the matter would be discussed with Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob through the National Security Council Technical Committee.
“It is expected to be announced today (Saturday)... from the data, we can show which states can be proposed to be given flexibility.
“This proposal aims to give some freedom and relief... the average number of national Covid-19 cases that came from Selangor have caused the people to feel overwhelmed by the problems, ” he told a press conference after leading a large-scale operation under Ops Patuh yesterday.
In the meantime, Hamzah said the large-scale compliance operation, which started yesterday, would see Royal Malaysia Police assets such as drones and helicopters being deployed to some areas to ensure SOP compliance.
“We see the operation being conducted in an integrated manner. It is different in other areas, but the focus is on Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.
“In addition, detailed data of the operation will be announced today (Saturday), ” he said.
Also present were Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim and Internal Security and Public Order Department deputy director (special operations force) Datuk Mastor Mohd Arif.
During the operation, a steel structural fabrication plant here was raided because it was not included in the manufacturing sector allowed to operate. — Bernama
