PETALING JAYA: One of the two Bangladeshi workers injured after metal scaffolding collapsed at the Damansara-Shah Alam Highway (Dash) construction site on June 19 has passed away.
Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid (pic) said the 53-year-old died due to severe internal and head wounds around 7am at Sungai Buloh Hospital.
"Meanwhile, the second victim, who is a 25-year-old, is still receiving treatment at the same hospital," he said in a statement on Sunday (June 20).
He said the collapse occurred as the scaffolding was believed to be overloaded.
The 7pm incident on Saturday (June 19) saw scaffolding of the 12 metre-tall construction site collapse, injuring two of the workers.
On Sunday, the Works Ministry has ordered the Malaysian Highway Authority and an independent consulting engineering firm to complete a report on the scaffolding incident on the Damansara-Shah Alam Elevated Highway (DASH) within a week.
