PETALING JAYA: Men’s doubles shuttlers Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani’s hopes of a medal at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games came to an end after they bowed out in the quarter-finals on Sunday (Sept 27).
The world No. 6 were no match for world No. 3 Liang Weikang-Wang Chang of China, losing 13-21, 17-21 in 29 minutes at the Ichinomiya City Municipal Stadium in Aichi.
Sze Fei-Izzuddin have now lost four of their five meetings with the reigning world champion Chinese duo.
The quarter-final exit ended Malaysia’s campaign in the men’s doubles event as Aaron Chia-Tee Kai Wun crashed out earlier in the second round.
Aaron-Soh Wooi Yik last won bronze for Malaysia in the men’s doubles at Hangzhou 2022.
