PETALING JAYA: Women’s doubles shuttlers Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah kept their fight alive at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games after booking their spot in the semi-finals on Sunday (Sept 27).
The Malaysians beat India’s Gayatri Gopichand-Treesa Jolly 21-18, 21-9 in 42 minutes at the Ichinomiya City Municipal Stadium in Aichi.
China’s Liu Shengshu-Tan Ning or Taiwan’s Hsieh Pei-shan-Hung En-tzu stand between them and the final.
Pearly-Thinaah’s semi-final berth also secured them a bronze medal, ending Malaysia’s 12-year medal drought in the women’s doubles event.
Vivian Hoo-Woon Khe Wei last won bronze at Incheon 2014.
