SHAH ALAM: Celebrities Norman Hakim and his wife Memey Suhaiza along with Abby Abadi and her husband Muhammad Faizal Zakari have been issued with RM2,000 compounds each for breaching Covid-19 standard operating procedure (SOP) during the recent Hari Raya celebrations.
Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed said the Deputy Public Prosecutor had decided that the compounds should be issued to them following an investigation.
"All individuals were issued with RM2,000 compounds," he told a virtual press conference on Thursday (May 27).
It was reported that an investigation into the breach of SOP was conducted following several photos of the celebrities celebrating Hari Raya together, which went viral recently.
Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak had earlier confirmed that an investigation had been opened into the incident.
"On May 17, at around 4pm, we identified a photo of a celebrity that had been uploaded online which showed Hari Raya celebrations with family members who we suspect did not live at the same address. The incident was believed to have occurred at the celebrity's house in Hulu Kelang.
"Thirteen individuals in the photo were seen and the visit had been carried out against the set SOP by the National Security Council," he said.
He added that a report had been lodged and that investigations are ongoing.
"The police calls on the people not to speculate on the matter as it is still under investigation. Everyone is advised to obey the rules and SOP set," he said.
