Ismail Sabri: New restrictions for travellers to Labuan to curb Covid-19 spike

PUTRAJAYA: New restrictions will be put in place for travellers entering Labuan following a spike in the number of Covid-19 cases on the federal territory island, says Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Among others, travellers are to do the RT-PCR test three days before entering Labuan.

He said that mandatory quarantine will also be imposed on travellers, where residents of Labuan are to be quarantined for 10 days at home, 10-day quarantine at home/hotel for civil servants and 14-day quarantine at hotels for foreign travellers.

“It is also mandatory for the daily transporter card users to do the RT-PCR test every two weeks and the RTK-Antigen test weekly.

“Sign-on/off activities will be postponed but sign-off will be allowed with 14-day quarantine, with one mandatory RT-PCR test done, ” he said on Tuesday (May 25).

This will take into effect from May 27 to June 9.

On Monday (May 24), the government announced that five sub-zones in Labuan will be under enhanced movement control order after health authorities recorded a high infectivity rate.

The affected localities will be under lockdown from May 26 to June 24.
