Ismail Sabri: Several areas in Mukah, Sarawak; Besut, Terengganu under EMCO from May 20-June 2


PETALING JAYA: Several areas in Mukah, Sarawak and Besut, Terengganu will be placed under enhanced movement control order from Thursday (May 20) to June 2.

Senior Minister (security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the Health Ministry reported a drastic increase in cases at Rumah Panjang Wun Ak Ering and SK Bakerkong at Bakerkong, Tanjung Manis, Mukah, Sarawak.

"In the last four days, five positive cases were recorded following screenings of symptomatic individuals and close contacts," he said in a statement on Tuesday (May 18).

He said in Besut, Terengganu, 13 villages in Mukim Pelagat would also be placed under EMCO.

"The 13 villages are Kampung Alor Selinsing, Kampung Bukit Yong, Kampung Tok Motong, Kampung Lak Lok Dalam, Kampung Lak Lok, Kampung Padang Landak, Kampung Padang Luas, Kampung Padang Luas Hilir, Kampung Padang Tapong, Kampung Paroh, Kampung Kubang Siam, Kampung Seberang Jerteh, Rumah Awam Kos Rendah Seberang Jerteh and Rumah Awam Kos Rendah Pelagat 1, 2 & 3.

"Until yesterday, 199 positive cases were recorded at these localities following 1,092 screenings," he said, adding that the Health Ministry also reported a drastic increase in cases with a high transmission rate there.

He said the government decided to implement EMCO at these areas in Sarawak and Terengganu from May 20 to June 2.
