PETALING JAYA: The government will announce details next week for another round to opt-in for the AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccine and new designated vaccine dispensing centres (PPV) outside the Klang Valley.
“While much attention has been given to the opt-in AZ track under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme, phase two is well underway with more seniors receiving their appointments.
“@JKJAVMY (Covid-19 Vaccine Supply Access Guarantee Special Committee) will be announcing details for another AZ opt-in window and new designated vaccine dispensing centre (PPV) locations outside of Klang Valley next week, ” said National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme Coordinating Minister Khairy Jamaluddin on Twitter yesterday.
He was responding to a tweet from user @CinaBerjanggut, who posted: “An amazing day. Mom-in-law had her first #PfizerBioNTech vaccination, similarly many other elderly in Johor also received theirs today.”
The national opt-in programme for the AstraZeneca vaccine has proceeded smoothly as hundreds of people turned up to receive their Covid-19 jabs at vaccination centres in the Klang Valley.
Meanwhile, those who had gotten the AstraZeneca vaccine and were given dates earlier than the recommended 12 weeks between doses for their second jab will have their appointments rescheduled.JKJAV tweeted this in response to queries from the public, stating that it would provide a new date for their second appointments soon.
Khairy had said that the interval between the first and second doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine was set at 12 weeks in line with World Health Organisation recommendations.
