Covid-19: Several localities in Johor and Pahang under EMCO from May 8-21

PUTRAJAYA: Several localities in Johor and Pahang will be placed under enhanced movement control order from May 8-21 after health authorities recorded a spike in the number of Covid-19 cases there.

In Johor, the lockdown will involve Sekolah Sukan Tunku Mahkota Ismail in Bandar Penawar, Kota Tinggi, Johor, where out of 212 swab tests carried out at the school, 96 turned out to be positive.

Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the government had agreed to place the school under enhanced MCO until May 21 after health authorities said that infectivity rate at the locality was high.

In Pahang, the enhanced MCO will affect 16 localities in Sungai Ruan and seven localities in Sempalit, both in Raub.

Ismail Sabri said that a total of 65 positive cases were reported from both localities over the past two weeks with high infectivity rate.

The localities in Sungai Ruan are Taman Dahlia, Taman KSM Sungai Ruan, Taman Bunga Raya, Taman Sungai Ruan, Taman Cempaka, Taman Bunga Matahari, Taman Koperasi Mewah, Taman Melewar, Taman Mawar, Taman Mawar Impian, Taman Bunga Tanjung, Taman Bunga Angsana, Taman Melor, Taman Orkid, Rumah Murah Sungai Ruan and Kampung Baru Sungai Ruan.

The seven localities in Sempalit are Kampung Baru Sempalit, Taman Sempalit Indah, Taman Sempalit Baru, Taman Sempalit Aman, Taman Sempalit Jaya, Taman Emas and Taman Emas Baru.

"These localities will also be under the enhanced MCO from May 8 to 21 to allow health authorities to carry out screenings on residents and to do contact tracing so that infectivity can be controlled," he said on Thursday (May 6).
