PORT DICKSON: The body of a 16-year-old student who fell off a boat after returning from a fishing trip has been found.

Port Dickson OCPD Supt Aidi Sham Mohamad said Fire and Rescue Department personnel found U.Prakash's body floating some 400m from the Kuala Lukut jetty around 12.25pm Sunday (May 2).

"A post-mortem on the teenager's remains found that he died of drowning.

"We have classified the case as sudden death," he said in a statement.

Supt Aidi Sham said the victim's uncle who was also in the boat when the incident happened had lodged a report around 6pm Saturday (May 1).

In his report, the uncle said he jumped into the sea to save the victim but could not find him.

Supt Aidi Sham advised those going out to sea to always adhere to safety rules such as putting on life jackets.

"This is really important, especially during the current unpredictable weather and rough sea conditions," he added.
