SEREMBAN: SMK Seremban 2 will be closed until April 29 after 17 Covid-19 cases were reported in the school on Friday (April 23), says state Education Committee chairman Datuk Dr Mohamad Rafie Ab Malek.
He said three cases were also reported at SM Agama Persekutuan Labu but the school would not be closed.
“The state health authorities have already ordered SMK Seremban 2 to close this morning.
“As for SMAP Labu, the situation there is still under control.
"A total of 179 people will be sent to Institut Aminuddin Baki and the Higher Education Academy to be quarantined, ” he said in a statement on Friday.
However, Mohamad Rafie did not state if all the positive cases involved only students.
Earlier today, students at SMK Seremban 2 were asked to go home around 10am after reports emerged that several higher secondary school students had tested positive.
State Women, Family and Welfare Committee chairman Nicole Tan Lee Koon said SMK Seremban 2 was the third school in the state with Covid-19 cases.
In recent days, Covid-19 cases were also reported in two primary schools.
