PETALING JAYA: Schools in the Petaling district that were ordered to close recently due to Covid-19 can resume classes again on Thursday (April 22), says the Selangor state education department.
State education director Izmi Ismail said the affected schools would be allowed to open again subject to strict standard operating procedures.
“The department received feedback on the current status of the schools from the Petaling district health office," he said.
“In their feedback, the schools that were ordered closed due to Covid-19 infections, can resume operations again, ” Izmi added in a letter dated April 21 sighted by The Star today. (April 21).
The notice comes after the Petaling health district office issued notices on Monday (April 19) for the closure of 19 schools in the district after cases were detected.
This was to allow sanitation works and screening of close contacts at the premises with the schools to be given two days before reopening.
The affected schools were SJK(C) Yuk Chai, SAM Bestari Subang, SMK Bukit Jelutong, SK Puchong Perdana, SK Bandar Baru Sri Damansara 2, SK Bukit Kuchai, SMK Bandar Sri Damansara 2, SK Bandar Sri Damansara 3, SMK Damansara Jaya and SK Bukit Jelutong.
It also includes SMK Seksyen 7, SK USJ 20, SMK USJ 23, SMK Puchong, SMK Puchong Utama 1, SMK Seksyen 4 Bandar Kinrara, SMK Bandar Puncak Jalil, SMK Seksyen 20, and SMK Puchong Perdana.
