Honeymooning couple jailed a day, fined RM2,500 for providing false info to cops

KUALA LUMPUR: A married couple who crossed state borders to Johor for their honeymoon were sentenced to a day’s jail and fined RM2,500 by the Magistrate’s Court for giving false information to the police last month.

According to Sinar Harian, Iram Naz Hafiz Sabir Muhammed, 24, and her husband Azharique Shah Abdul Jalil, 23, were sentenced after pleading guilty to Magistrate Wong Chai Sia.

The picture of the couple on honeymoon went viral on social media as they had given tips to others on how to cross state borders.

They had received their permit at the Wangsa Maju police station here to travel to Johor Baru for work matters during the conditional movement control order.

The pair had submitted a company letter to the police station to get the permit.
