Fireworks worth over RM90,000 seized, three arrested in Senai


KULAI: The General Operations Force (GOF) has arrested three men and confiscated 114 cartons of fireworks in Senai here.

Acting on a public tip-off, GOF Battalion 5 commanding officer Supt Dimin Awang said the men were found with the fireworks at premises on Jalan Saleng, Kampung Baru in Senai here at around 2.30pm on Friday (April 16).

“They were in the middle of transferring some of the cartons from a loaded lorry into a car within the premises compound. The fireworks worth RM92,160 and vehicles were seized along with the arrest of the three suspects, aged between 30 and 47," he said.

“We encourage the public to continue channelling information to the police so we can take action to bust contraband activities in Johor, ” added Supt Dimin

The suspects and items were handed over to the Kulai police headquarters for investigation under Section 8 of the Explosives Act 1957, he added.
