Cops probing Raya-themed gambling video clips


KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman is investigating a Hari Raya-themed video which purportedly promotes online gambling.

The video, which is about two minutes long, has gone viral on social media since Thursday and received a backlash from netizens.Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said the police would primarily focus on the video’s producer and actors.

“They will be called up for questioning.

“We are investigating under Section 504 of the Penal Code and Section 4(1)(g) of the Common Gaming Houses Act, ” he said in a statement yesterday.

The police will also cooperate with the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission in the investigation.

Acryl Sani called on the public not to share or spread the video on social media as it might cause public unrest.

“We hope the public can cooperate with us on this matter, ” he said.
