Ipoh cops take disciplinary action against several cops found smoking in public

IPOH: Ipoh police have taken disciplinary action against several policemen who were photographed smoking publicly at a food stall here.

Ipoh deputy OCPD Supt Mohamed Nordin Abdullah said the policemen involved were from the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department's motorcycle patrol unit.

"The pictures were uploaded by a Facebook user under the name Araa Qisha, showing several policemen smoking at a food stall in Pasir Puteh. They were off duty when the pictures were taken.

“The post was also shared by a Facebook page under the name 'Ipoh Ipoh Ajerr’ before it was shared on the Public Health Malaysia’s Facebook page, ” he said in a statement on Wednesday (April 7).

"Disciplinary action has been taken against the respective individuals," he added.

A smoking ban at all public eateries was enforced in 2019.

Supt Mohamed Nordin said the police always acted fairly, transparently and professionally, with all its personnel being subjected to the law.

"We always welcome the people’s feedback, especially on our services, ” he said.

"However, we hope that any feedback regarding Ipoh police personnel can be done by calling 05-254 2222, or email us at kpdipoh@rmp.gov.my instead of sharing it on social media platforms," he added.
